When Individuals Reject Christ

What do you think and what do you do when you attempt to share the gospel with someone and they reject Christ? Do you become angry with them? I have done that. Do you think that they are beyond hope? I have thought that. Do you sometimes think they are out of even God*s reach? I have thought that. Do you not know how to continue loving them? I have not known that. I have often been wrong in my thoughts toward Christ-rejecters. Jesus has saved many individuals that I was wrong about.

John 4:35: Say not ye, There are yet four months, and then cometh harvest? behold, I say unto you, Lift up your eyes, and look on the fields; for they are white already to harvest.

Matthew 9:38: Pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he will send forth labourers into his harvest.

It seems to me that these passages about the urgency of sharing the gospel are written more to believers than to unbelievers. Believers should see that urgency but they should not expect unbelievers to always see it. Perhaps not enough believers have loved this individual . . . yet. Perhaps your loving them will be the straw that breaks the camel*s back. Perhaps not enough believers have prayed that the Lord would send witnesses into their lives. Perhaps not enough believers have prayed that the Lord would open their hearts. Perhaps your prayers for them will be the key. Perhaps not enough believers have shared the Bible with them. Perhaps not enough believers have planted the seed of the Word of God. Perhaps not enough believers have watered it. Perhaps not enough believers have lived a changed life before them. Perhaps not enough believers have told them about Jesus. Perhaps your sharing scripture with them will be what finishes the job. Our love, compassion and pity for Christ-rejecters should increase after they have rejected Him.

I believe that one of Satan*s plans is to make unbelievers hard to love so that we will not love them. The harder they are to love, the more they need it. Don*t give up on them. Only God knows when it is time to give up on them.
